Looking forward to seeing you all on Thursday, as we look at Part 2 of Chapter 7 in the Handbook – Types of Communication.
If you haven’t already, please take the time to read Chapter 9 in the book “Shepherding A Child’s Heart”, and then we will finish ch 7 of the handbook where we left off last week.
This chapter is all about learning to communicate with our children. Parenting communication shouldn’t be reduced to setting Rules, and then applying Correction and Discipline. Our parenting should involve Encouragement, Correction, Rebuke, Entreaty, Instruction, Warning, Teaching and Prayer. Let’s come together and discuss how we can apply all these types of communication with our children.
There are a LOT of scripture passages for this chapter, so if you didn’t print them off last week, please print them this week and bring them along.
See you on Thursday, at 9:30 on the 10th floor! Childcare is available as usual, also on the 10th floor.

Also, please remember this call for donations from earlier this week:
“We need your help!” The Cambodia Family Mission Team is returning to Cambodia, Phnom Phen, from February 2-6 and needs donations to support the many children greatly suffering from lack of basic necessities.
Each year when Island ECC sends a team to Phnom Phen we are overwhelmed by the desperate situation facing the Cambodian children. We are in need of new or gently used children’s shorts, t-shirts, dresses, crocs and flip flops. We also need new children’s toothbrushes and toothpaste, and any kind of school supplies (pens, pencils, notebooks, etc).
There will be a collection box located on the 9th floor by the Welcome Desk. Start 2014 by cleaning out your closets and supporting the children of Cambodia. You can bring donations this Sunday 12th, or next Sunday, 19th.
Thank you for your support!
