Our chapter this week looks at the huge responsibility—and wonderful opportunity—of “Praying for Our Children.”
Author Alice Fryling writes, “Our children face problems we cannot fix, circumstances we cannot change, habits that are slow to change. During these times, God invites us to pray.”
How fortunate we are that we have a loving God who cares, and who listens!
So let’s all be thankful and active in remembering that “there is nothing more proactive and life-giving that we can do for our children than to pray for them.”
This week’s questions cover all of John 17 and Philippians 1:3-11.
Jesus’ prayer for all believers and Paul’s prayer to the church of Phillippi can guide us to different areas of focus when we pray for our children.
Questions to consider:
- Identify some “worldly” influences in your children’s lives.
- What fears do you have for your children as they live in “the world”? How would you like God to protect them?
- How can you pray for your children to help them be attentive to God’s love in their lives?
- If you were to tell your chidren that you are thankfl for them, what specific things would you mention?
- What things do you see God beginning to do in your children’s lives that you pray he will bring to completion?
- In what areas of life would you like to be praying for discernment for your children, as Paul prayed for the Philippians (verse 10)?
See you tomorrow, Thursday, May 9, from 9:30-11:30 on the 2/F at Island ECC. Childcare and refreshments provided.
